Opposition intensifies pressure for Election Commissioner's resignation

Opposition parties and student organizations are continuing demonstrations demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation. MPs including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were detained by Delhi Police during protest attempts at Jantar Mantar. After release, Rahul Gandhi stated the struggle would continue until accountability is ensured. A people's tribunal is scheduled in Bengaluru on October 10. Central paramilitary forces have been deployed with 110 companies approved from October 8 to 12. Police are investigating incidents during the protests.
